Durante nueve años en Chile fue responsable por la expansión y consolidación comercial de DITEMPO (filial del Grupo Carvajal). Regresó al país y se vinculó como Gerente de Informática de COCELCO (hoy MOVISTAR). Luego, en Casa Editorial EL TIEMPO (CEET) se desempeñó primero como Vicepresidente de Administración y Tecnología y después como Vicepresidente de Inteligencia de Negocios, teniendo a su cargo la operación de DATATIEMPO, el Call Center de CEET. Su amplia experiencia en liderar negocios en ambientes altamente competitivos, de implementar grandes proyectos de desarrollo tecnológico y de liderar equipos comerciales y de servicio, lo conducen a ser designado para crear la filial colombiana de la firma multinacional de consultoría Focused Management Inc. (www.fmicol.com), que actualmente dirige, y desde la cual lidera acciones de orientación a diversas empresas clientes en temas de CRM/CEM, Balanced Scorecard, y Costeo Basado en Actividades. Profesor universitario y conferencista permanentemente invitado por organizaciones de Estados Unidos, Canadá, China, Finlandia y varios países de Latinoamérica, a disertar y a exponer su pensamiento y sus experiencias sobre CRM y CEM.
Rafael is a business and a technology executive with extensive experience in leading people, project teams and businesses. He began his consulting career after 25 years of work in the Media, Telecommunications, Commercial, International and Public sectors where he held important managerial and technical positions. Rafael combines his management expertise with a deep knowledge and understanding of technology derived from his leadership roles in implementing SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle Financials, Sales Logix and many other solutions. He was the first Latin American panelist in CRMGuru (today CustomerThink) and the only one to belong to the selected group of experts of Greater China CRM, where he lectures and teaches CEM Certification programs in several countries in Asia.
He graduated as Electrical Engineer, received a Master's Degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University and has several specializations in finance, marketing, project management and e-commerce. He began his professional career as a financial analyst for the World Bank in Washington D.C. Later as General Manager of the Service Division of CARVAJAL S.A., he pioneered in Colombia the use of IT in Customer Service operations. His performance record conducted him to lead during nine years the successful establishment and consolidation of a CARVAJAL’s commercial start-up in Chile. Upon his return to Colombia, he played a key role in the introduction of the latest ICTs in the country, first as IT Manager of one of the emerging mobile communication companies, COCELCO (today MOVISTAR) and later as Vice-president of Technology first and later of Market Intelligence of Casa Editorial EL TIEMPO, one of the largest media groups in Latin America.
His proven record as a specialist in various managerial disciplines: CRM/CEM, Balanced Scorecard, Activity Based Costing and Technology, led him to create in Bogota, a subsidiary of Focused Management Inc, a consulting company that integrates the above disciplines into a very unique Performance Architecture framework, which has become the core of his facilitation and consulting engagements to companies in several industries and to his teaching assignments at several Colombian universities.

Al participar en la Cumbre CRM 2008, lo más atractivo del evento fueron los casos, en especial los que no dejaron memorias en el CD entregado, sería interesante contar con sus slides para recordar, pues sus experiencias son valiosas y vale la pena replicar sus buenos buenos resultados en nuestras empresas. Mi correo ya hace parte de sus bases de datos, pues en muchos de los formatos era reiterativa la información. Los conferencistas de base: Excelentes todos, los materiales entregados también. Un evento para repetir año tras año, definitivamente. Eso si... con más rifas y regalos, pues algunos, muchos, quedamos sin incentivo. Muchos saludos! Juan Carlos Rodríguez Vargas
